Subject: 8-16-21 THOUGHTS

We will skip tomorrow.  We will travel to the coast for a couple of days.  We will be back with our thoughts on Wednesday 8-18-21 Lord willing.  Love you all!

8-16-21 THOUGHTS

The passage below was part of our reading last evening.  What is said in eleven short verses is most powerful.  The HUMILITY of Christ as an EXAMPLE FOR OUR BEHAVIOR is the theme.  God wants humble minds to serve Him and verse three gives us the key to that behavior.  Have “No selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;”   One more time, the battle for SELF is central!  Always keep in mind...   JESUS DIDN’T GRASP...   HE EMPTIED!  Learning to BOW is not a bad thing!

Php 2:1-11     Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, 2  make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. 3  Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4  do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. 5
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6  who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7  but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8  Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9  For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10  so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11  and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Matt 11:29    "Take My yoke upon you and
learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.
John 13:14-15   "If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.  15  "For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you.
1Pet 2:21     For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps,

My Prayer:
Give us the mind of your precious son O God!  Help us to fight against the flesh we live in, and help us to walk in the Spirit.  Teach us to grow in your precepts, and give us the desire for a closer walk with you.  We want to abide in you, and you in us O God.  May we overcome to live with you eternally, and that will be enough.     In the name of Jesus          Amen
